Happy New Year and welcome to my little corner of the world! This is the time when most of us sit down and start writing resolutions and planning for the year ahead, and one of my goals for 2018 was to finally take the plunge and start this blog.
When my grandmother died over the Christmas break, it really put things into perspective for me. Sitting around saying you’re going to do something one day is pointless, so if not now, when? Suddenly I found myself buying a domain name and staying up that night until 1 a.m. designing a logo and starting the site layout … so there you go, one resolution ticked off my list by week one. As for the rest of the year …
The thing I’m most looking forward to in 2018 is Harry and Meghan’s wedding. I’ve always had a soft spot for Harry and I’m just so excited to see him happy and in love! There are still some details to be worked out, but I’m planning to head over to Windsor for the wedding (I’ll be blogging about it for my day job, too) and to do some research for the novel I’m writing. I wasn’t able to be in London for Will and Kate’s, so my husband promised me years ago if Harry ever got married we’d go. To be fair, that was back when Harry was still pretty wild, so I don’t think anyone thought he’d be getting married anytime soon … so thanks for that, Meghan!
I’ve been so impressed with Meghan right out of the gate and can’t wait to see what she brings to the royal family. I’m sure she’s going to make a huge difference in her new role, and the charity work she’s already done has been amazing. Style-wise, I’ve already bought a few pieces she’s worn and both of them will be here this week, so keep an eye out for a review!
Of course the other big royal event of the year will be the birth of Baby Cambridge number three. I have to admit I’m not *quite* as excited for this as I am for the wedding, but probably because they already have two kids and I feel a bit “been there done that” in terms of the Lindo Wing door-stare marathon. (Please don’t think I’m horrible!) I’m definitely still looking forward to seeing the new baby, though, and I hope it’s another boy so George can have his “Harry.” Any name guesses? I’m going with James for a boy and Victoria for a girl, but we’ll find out soon enough when the baby comes in April. I’m also happy to hear that Zara and Mike Tindall are expecting a little one this year, too. The Queen must be thrilled about all of the new additions!
