Last week the schools were closed Thursday and Friday, the roads were icy, and most of us in the Philadelphia area were stuck inside for two days, most likely wearing flannel pajamas, hoodies, and robes. It was so cold that I wore a knit hat all day Friday even though I didn’t actually step outside, and I may or may not have pumped gas this morning in a unicorn onesie (in my defense, it was 11 degrees and there was no way I was changing into real clothes to sit in the school car line!). I will fully admit, I’m not a snow person. I don’t want to play in the snow, I don’t want to go outside, and I certainly don’t want to drive in it. So unlike the royals who love to live it up on the ski slopes, this time of year is tough for me. One thing that brightens up my mood on a below-freezing day, however, is wearing some fun winter accessories.
If you’re struggling to stay fashionable and warm at the same, you’re not alone. But cold weather gear doesn’t have to be boring, nor does a beautiful hat or scarf need to cost a fortune.
I’ve been browsing on Nordstrom’s website a few times lately since they had a big sale, and even though the sale is technically over, they still have some great deals. Here are just a few of my favorites to make you feel a bit more princessy on these unbearably cold days:
Kate is a fan of the poncho and of anything tartan, so I feel like she’d approve of this ruana from B.P. Even better, it’s half off at $22.50!
A pair of cozy cashmere gloves will last you for years, and even better when they’re on sale. This Halogen pair is now half off at $24.50 and comes in red or classic tan.
Kate loves a good furry accessory, and has been pictured in faux fur hats, stoles, and collars on many winter occasions. This Topshop stole is 50 percent off right now ($23.99) and the neutral cream color will match any coat.
Stay warm, ladies!
