Well, yet another Nor’easter struck Philly so HAPPY SPRING. But in better news, the snow is practically gone already, and I’m super excited to be heading to NYC to visit my friend Jackie this weekend. I’ll report back on our adventures in the city!
I hosted a giveaway for this adorable Duchess of Cambridge Funko earlier this week, and the winner is … Shelley Human! Shelley, check your email for a message from me. Congrats!
If you didn’t win, you can get your own royal Funko Pop on Amazon. I own Kate, The Queen, and Princess Diana (and I’m sure I’ll get Harry, Charles, and William eventually).
Now for this week’s faves:
Richard III: The King in the Car Park
So I was having a casual discussion about Richard III and the Princes in the Tower with my sister the other day (if you know us, that’s a pretty normal topic of conversation) and I remembered I’d never watched the documentary from a few years ago about how they found his bones in a car park in Leicester. I really couldn’t make this up if I tried – the story is CRAZY and you need to watch it right now.
If you’re not familiar with what happened, Richard’s body had been missing since he died in 1485, and he was the only English monarch who wasn’t buried in a proper tomb. They just didn’t know where he was, but this woman Philippa Langley pushed for people to dig for his bones based on some research she had, and a team of archaeologists ended up actually finding him … under a car park. You can watch the full hour-and-14 minute documentary on YouTube here.
I also watched Richard III’s reinterment, mostly because the preview on the sidebar in YouTube had Benedict Cumberbatch in it and I needed to see his reading at the service – which of course was awesome. On a sidenote, I also HIGHLY recommend Cumberbatch’s portray of Richard III in The BBC’s The Hollow Crown. It’s not easy to watch in the U.S. for free but you can buy the episode online at Amazon for $2.99. Trust me, it’s worth the 3 bucks.
Sugarfix Tassel Earrings
I mentioned Baublebar’s Sugarfix for Target line in my spring earrings post, but this was the first time I’ve actually bought a pair. I received some Baublebar tassel earrings in my latest Trunk Club shipment, which I’m not going to blog about because I only kept one thing. Anyway, said earrings were too expensive and too heavy, and I already have black tassel earrings from my spring Fab Fit Fun box.
When I saw Target had almost identical Sugarfix tassels in red for about four times cheaper, I bought them online right away. I wasn’t sure how the quality would be, but I’m pleasantly surprised! I think they’re a decent copykate of the red Kate Spade tassel earrings The Duchess of Cambridge has, and even better cost a mere $12.99.
Triple Points Event at Nordstrom – Ends Sunday
I was excited to see this promotion because I needed new shoes to wear to a bridal shower and a few other events this spring, considering I donated a ton of old pairs over the winter. I ordered these Treasure & Bond wedges that I’ve seen a ton of bloggers wearing lately. They have great reviews, so fingers crossed. I’m glad I waited to order them because I got the extra points!
If you’re not a Nordstrom Rewards member (it’s free) sign up here. Once you reach 2,000 points, you get a Nordstrom note – basically, a gift card to spend on whatever you want at Nordstrom! Earn 3 points per dollar for non-Nordstrom card payments and 6 points per dollar if you use your Nordstrom card through March 25.
The promotion is also valid at Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook. Happy shopping!
Have a great weekend – let’s pray for no more snow 😉
