Happy Friday! The royal wedding insanity is building … just two weeks to go!!!!
I was contacted by at least four different producers/reporters in the past week wanting to interview an American who was coming over to Windsor, plus pitching other contacts myself, so I’ve been busy to say the least. Good thing I used to work in PR because my professional background has certainly come in handy this month.
Needless to say, I’m glad we finished our living room painting/renovation project over the weekend so millions of people won’t have to see a construction zone!
On Wednesday I taped an interview with Jacqueline London of NBC 10 here in Philly. She’s a fellow royal fan so it was really fun to chat about all things Meghan, Harry, William and Kate with her. I got to show off a few of my replikate outfits, too!
Jacqueline is also going to Windsor, so we’re planning to try and meet up to do another segment on the wedding weekend. I can’t wait to get to England!
Yesterday I filmed a segment for ARD, a big German public broadcasting network. It was cool to see how it all works with an international broadcast. The team is based out of D.C. and covers U.S. stories, and then they send the footage to Germany to be edited. My voice and the reporter’s voice will be dubbed over in German, which should be interesting to hear!
Next week I have another European station coming, so I’ll be on air in German and French soon enough!
I’ll share the links to the stories when they air, which should be in the next week or two leading up to the wedding.
A couple of other faves for this week:
Mohawk Home area rug
Speaking of TV interviews in my house, I got a new area rug from Amazon earlier in the week and I love it! I was on the hunt for an affordable 5×8 rug and didn’t want to spend more than $100 just for my cat to scratch it up and my kid to spill chocolate milk on it.
I wanted something that had a modern and look and pulled the blue colors from our walls. And I needed it to be delivered FAST because I waited until the last minute and had TV crews coming. Amazon Prime to the rescue, as usual.
This one from Mohawk Home ticked all the boxes and it was way under budget, too! It’s a great quality for the price and I’m really happy with it so far.
Quaintly & Co royal wedding box
I have been awaiting this delivery for months, ever since Quaintly & Co announced they were doing a royal wedding theme for the April 2018 box!
If you’re not familiar with the company, they offer a subscription box for Anglophiles. Every month has a different British theme and you can find some really great items. They also run the London Pop Box, which I subscribe to. I bought the royal wedding box as a one-off purchase, so it’s nice to have that option if you don’t want to subscribe long-term.
If you check out my Instagram stories from yesterday you can see a full unboxing. I was so excited to get everything – and it also means fewer items I need to buy in Windsor (ha, just kidding).
While you can’t order the box anymore, you can frequently buy items from past boxes in the Quaintly & Co online shop. Plus, some of the products inside can be found online, including the adorable Milly Green royal wedding mug, notebook, and pen from their royal wedding collection, a tea towel from Victoria Eggs, and a gorgeous William Edwards china coaster.
I love this tote bag that shows the constellations over Windsor Castle for May 19, but I own 457 tote bags and already planned on getting the Cath Kidston wedding one. I’m going to share the royal wedding love with you guys – and do a tote bag giveaway!
If you’d like to win the tote, here’s what to do:
- Leave a comment on this post
- Follow Royally Broke on Instagram & Facebook
- For an extra entry, follow Royally Broke on Twitter
I’ll choose a random winner on Monday. Open to both U.S. and international entries. Good luck!
