Can you believe 2018 is already over? I started this blog the first week of January and somehow we’re coming up on the one-year anniversary! I’ve loved getting to know many of you over the past year. It’s been a lot of fun and a crazy busy year for the British royals – two weddings, Prince Charles’s 70th, the births of Prince Louis and Lena Tindall, and another royal baby on the way for Meghan and Harry!
On a personal note, I got to be there for Harry and Meghan’s wedding, and finally ticked a huge item off my bucket list – visiting Highclere Castle! I really don’t know how I can top that in 2019!
This certainly has been a year to remember, and now we have one last Royal Style Roundup for 2018:
Sole Society faux fur stole
My college friends get together for a Christmas dinner and gift exchange every year and this brown fur stole was one of the most stolen gifts of all! After it finally found a home with our friend Jenell, three of us all ordered one on our phones while sitting right at the dinner table. Hey, we don’t mess around when it comes to bargains! It’s on sale for $27.48 (down from $54.95) at Sole Society.
I haven’t had a chance to wear mine yet since it’s actually been pretty warm this past week! It reminds me of the burgundy faux fur stole Kate wore at Christmas a couple of years ago, except this taupe color definitely suits me better than burgundy. The Queen also has a lovely brown fur stole (although I’m sure hers is probably real!).
Loft draped open cardigan
The post-holiday sale at Loft is pretty great right now with 50% off full-priced styles and 60% off selected items! I popped over to the mall earlier in the week to pick this draped open cardigan up because I wanted to wear it last weekend, but then I got sick so there went that idea. It reminds me of Meghan’s Club Monaco coat so when I’m feeling better, I’ll pull together a quick Meghan-inspired outfit with a black turtleneck, black jeans, and Meg’s J. Crew booties. A perfect winter look!
Kate has been wearing these tall “hatbands” lately and I’m all about it. They feel very Tudor-esque and in my book that’s a good thing! However, I have a feeling they won’t be in style for terribly long so I didn’t want to spend loads of money on one. I just ordered a blue one on Aliexpress for under $3! You can find many copies of royal outfits on Aliexpress, too. It’s kind of a gamble sometimes with quality but a lot of royal fashion enthusiasts I know have had good luck with pieces from there. Fingers crossed that it’s cute (and if not, I won’t mind losing the three bucks).
Pippa hair ties
I was in Ulta the other day and came across these hair ties from Kitsch. They look just like the ones Pippa wears, except they’re $9 for a set of five and you can use an Ulta coupon on top of it. Pippa’s from IA BON cost $6.10 a piece plus $16.63 (!!!!) international shipping so that’s $22.73 for one hair elastic. If you’re like me, your hair ties end up in a mystical no man’s land without explanation so I’m not spending over $20 for one only to lose it!
Meghan Replica Engagement Ring
I included this one in my royal gift guide last month, but I’m sharing the ring again because I actually received two for Christmas! My husband and my mom both had the same idea – great minds think alike. The ring is so sparkly and pretty in person, and the center stone is a pretty substantial size. Someone in Target thought it was my real ring, so there you go! Not bad for an Amazon copy.
You can order it in various metal colors and it also comes in different stone colors like aqua or pink, too. I know many of you were looking for a decent replica of Meghan’s ring and I can definitely recommend it!
And with that, I’m signing off for the last time in 2018. THANK YOU for reading and being part of this wonderful royal community! See you in 2019!
